Imperialism Throughout The Ages

The Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo, previously known just as the Congo, was imperialized by King Leopold II of Belgium (Seen on Left.)

He enslaved the Congolese people, and used them to harvest the vast amounts of rubber in the Congo.

If his slaves did not do what he wanted, they had their hands removed (Seen on Left.)

Many Congolese people were murdered in the wake of this imperialism. This is similar to the Chinese Opium war, because people developed a dependence on those who were imperializing them, and, when they try to combat this dependence, it generally doesn't work well.
